Final Speaking : Speech

Di bawah ini adalah hasil speech buatan saya, khusus untuk memenuhi final speaking semester 5 kemarin, hoho..Ini ceritanya saya sebagai ketua ESA membuka acara AWWE.

Assalamualaikum, wr. wb.

The Honorable lecturers of English Department, The Honorable adjudicators, The Honorable participants, students of high schools, and my fellow college students.

Praise and gratitude for the presence of Allah, because today we can come together to attend our program, A Week With ESA or AWWE. It is presented by ESA, English Students Association in Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin.

First of all, may I tell you, it is a great pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to deliver speech to open “English Debating Competition of High School" on this precious program, A Week With ESA.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A debate is a discussion between two sides or more with different views. They speak for or against something before making a decision. Debate is a way to encourage critical and logical thinking, personal expression, and tolerance of others' opinions.

In debating competition, students will explore all their knowledge, ideas, opinions, and spontaneity when discussing and to counter the opponent team. Of course, in order to win the competition, students must have an adequate vocabulary, be able to use expressions in conversation, and be able to exchange opinions or sharing opinions.

In debating competition, it is expected that it can encourage students' talent in speaking English and also improving students' ability to think critically and analytically, so that students can compete in national and international level.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am as a chief of the committee for English Debating Competition of High School, hope this competition can be done according with our plan. Therefore, I strongly expect your assistance and cooperation.

Now, by saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I declare this English Debating Competition… open.
